The Athletic Boosters are a group of parents, coaches, teachers and community
members interested in the enrichment of pupil-school-community relationships
through sports. The Boosters raise funds for athletic activities and equipment,
provide members to aid in the athletic program as needed, and promote a public
relations program to ensure full participation of the community in the athletic
program of the school.
The annual dues for membership in the Boosters are $5.00 per person for the
school year (September 1 through August 31). Payment of dues establishes voting
privileges in the organization.
All members are encouraged to solicit their friends and neighbors within
the community to join and/or support the Lackey Athletic Boosters Club. Members
do not need to have children enrolled in the school district to gain membership.
The Athletic Boosters meet the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in
the school cafeteria.
ATHLETIC BOOSTER ACTIVITIES
Concessions. The Athletic Boosters operate the concession
stand during sporting events. A committee of members handles scheduling workers
from families of each team for the concession stand. Family members and/or
friends of the athletes are asked to volunteer to help out at least once during
the season in which the athlete participates. The concessions committee makes
every effort not to schedule parents in the stand during an event in which
their student is participating, but family participation is critical to ensuring
the concessions are available during sporting events.
Annual Fundraising Events. The Athletic Boosters participate
in--or sponsor several events every year, including a Homecoming Tailgate
Party, Lottery Calendars, a Spaghetti Dinner, Concessions for the Lackey Christmas
Wrestling Tournament, and an Easter Bunny Breakfast, as well as other events
that may be scheduled over the course of the school year. Ideas for additional
fund raising activities are welcome and encouraged.
Facility Improvements. The Athletic Boosters work to foster
a spirit of community and also pride in the facilities and surroundings at
Lackey High SchooL Besides raising money for improvements in and around the
buildings, the Boosters may organize members of the group and the community
to help out in a "clean up" day, or work on various projects around
the building when appropriate.
