The Henry E. Lackey Athletic Boosters are proudly sponsoring the following scholarships:
The Wanda F. Lucas Athletic Scholarship (co-sponsored by the Lucas family)
Two (2) $1500 Scholarships will be awarded!
- One (1) $1500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating male athlete and,
- One (1) $1500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating female athlete.
The Leonard V. Stevenson, Sr. Athletic Scholarship
- One (1) $1000 Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Lackey athlete!
Applicants that submit the attached application will be considered for all Athletic Booster scholarships so that only one application is required.
The Athletic Booster scholarships look for the well rounded student athlete. They are awarded points for athletic involvement, school activities, leadership, community involvement, grades, awards, parent/family booster participation and letters of recommendation. So everything counts.
Scholarship Application - Minimum Requirements
- Must be a Henry E. Lackey High School Senior who has lettered at least once in a varsity sport during high school.
- Must complete attached application.
- Must submit an essay (typed, double-spaced and no more than one page front and back) entitled: "How Participating in High School Sports Has Had a Positive Impact on My Life".
- Along with the completed application and essay, all applicants must also submit two (2) letters of recommendation (one (1) must be from a coach and one (1) from a teacher/guidance/administrative official or adult community member.
- Applicants must also attach a copy of their sealed transcript from the Guidance Office.
Requirements of the Scholarships
- Must be used within one (1) year of receipt at a two (2) or four (4) year accredited college, university or technical school.
- Scholarships will be paid directly to the Institute or College/University and must be applied to tuition and/or books.
- Scholarships cannot be exchanged for cash and is non-renewable.
Selection of Scholarship Recipients
- Applications for 2008 Awards must be completed and submitted to Ms. Walls in the Career Center no later than: APRIL 18, 2008
- An independent panel of judges (selected from the community) will review all applications submitted (provided the requirements are met) and this panel will select the three Henry E. Lackey athletes to receive the scholarship awards.
- Scholarships will be awarded at Senior Awards Night.
